Registry of Deeds & Companies Confederation Building, St. John's Vol. 1, p. 137 In the name of God, Amen. I, Jonathan Parsons, being very sick and weak in body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be given unto God, calling into mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die, do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament, that is to say - principally and first of all, I give and recommend my soul into the hand of Almighty God who gave it, and my body I recommend to the Earth to be buried in decent christian burial, nothing doubting but at the general resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God. And as touching such worldly goods as it hath pleased God to bless me with in this life, I give, devise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form: First, I give and bequeath to Susan my well beloved Wife all my real and personal Estate, Houses and Plantation together with all monies which may be owing to me at the present moment to be possessed by her in as ample a manner as I could do myself during her natural life, and it is also my Will that the said Susan do live in this House with my son William, and that my daughter Rachel do live with her Mother in said House or on said Room until she gets married. And after the Death of said Susan my beloved Wife, my son William aforesaid is to possess and enjoy all my said real and personal property in the same manner as I have done and to be disposed of by him according to his pleasure. And it is my Will that William Parsons and Richard Anderson be the Executors of this my last Will and Testament, and I do hereby utterly disallow all former Testaments, Wills, Legacies, bequests, and Executors by me in any wise before named ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last Will and Testament. In Witness whereof I hereunto set my hand and Seal this eight day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight [page cut off]....
