In re JONATHAN SPRACKLIN: DECEASED. In the name of God Amen- I Jonathan Spracklin of Cupids Conception Bay in the Island of Newfoundland being weak in body but of perfect mind and memory and knowing that it is appointed unto men once to die do make and ordain this my last will and testament that is to say principally and first of all I give and recommend my soul into the hand of Almighty God who gave it and body I commend to the earth to be buried in decent Christian burial at the discretion of my executors nothing doubting that at the general resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God And as touching my worldly estate wherewith it hath pleased the Lord to bless me I give demise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form. First I give and bequeath to my wife my dwelling house and all appurtenances including outhouses and cellar to be her property until her decease and immediately after her decease to become the undisputed property of my son Thomas forever- My share of the land purchased from Charles Bennett and father being a fourth part of the same I give and bequeath to my son Thomas to become his property immediately after my decease- The ten acres of land bought from James Byrne and the eight adjoining acres (of which I hold a grant) I ordain to be equally divided between my two sons Jonathan and Thomas immediately after my decease. The piece of land that I bought from Terrence Moore to be the property of my wife while she lives and after her decease to be equally divided between my two sons Jonathan and Thomas Jonathan to have the western and Thomas the eastern part. My part of the land purchased from Henry Williams Sheppard being a third of the same I ordain to be the property of my wife while she lives and after her decease to be equally divided between my own son Henry William and my grandson William George Spracklin. My property on the north side I decree to be the property of my three sons Henry William, Jonathan and Thomas immediately after my decease. My two daughters Emma and Elizabeth are to live in the dwelling house with my son Thomas until they are further provided for, and my grandson William George Spracklin to live under the care of my wife and my son Thomas until he is come to age. My wife I commit to the care of my son Thomas who is to live in the house with her and support her to the best of his ability. I now appoint Capt. Alfred Smith and Capn.
