Will of John T. Colbert
The last will of John T. Colbert late of

Harbor Grace, Roman Catholic Priest.

In the name of God. Amen. I John J. Colbert, priest of the Holy Catholic Church being now sane in mind though feeble of body and knowing that it is decreed that all men shall die, do this third day of May, in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and four declare this to be my Last Will and testament, whereby I give, will and bequeath my soul to God, by whom I hope to be forgiven for all my offences and my body to be buried without any funeral pomp or earthly display. I do also give, will and bequeath to my mother, Catherine Colbert, of Harbor Grace, all my books and household effects pictures, chairs, couch, easy chair, table &c, &c as well as my share of the house and land at Harbor Grace. I also leave, give will and bequeath to my mother Catherine Colbert, all my mineral claims at St. Juliens and Grand Oies in the District of St. Barbe. In case my brother Joseph Colbert should return to Newfoundland, my mineral claims at Grand Oies shall be his. To Peter Colbert, my brother and Mary Teresa Colbert, my sister, I leave, will and bequeath my mineral claims on the South Grois Island. I leave will and bequeath to the General of the Oblate Fathers my mineral claims at Grand Ille New Harbor, on conditions that they will, in lieu thereof have a high mass and office celebrated each year for the repose of my soul. Should the mines at St. Juliens and Grand Oies turn out to be valuable, my mother Catherine Colbert is hereby requested to give ($70.00) seventy dollars to Mrs. Maggie McCarthy, my house keeper for the purpose of obtaining her sight and also to Thomas Hanrahan Esq. Supt. Roman Catholic Schools 1/15 one fifteenth of my mineral claims at St. Julians. I also appoint Catherine Colbert my mother and Mary Teresa Colbert, my sister to be the executrices of this my last will and testament to which I place my signature in the presence of James Davis(?) and Peter Dower – John T. Colbert

I certify the foregoing to be a correct copy of the will of John J. Colbert.
