IN RE: JOHN QUINLAN. DECEASED
I, John Quinlan of North Arm in the Electoral District of Harbour Main, Planter, do hereby publish and declare this to be my last will and Testament. After the payment of all my just debts, funeral and testamentary expenses, I give, devise and bequeath as follows:-
To my son James that portion of land and premises which he now has in his possession.
To my son Patrick the Dwelling House, outhouses, barns, cellars and store, together with the land used and cultivated be me in the vicinity of my dwelling house, consisting of all that land situate on the South-East side of the Main Line of Road bounded on the South-West by Frank Healey, on the North-East by Hyne's land, on the South-East by the water; also that piece of land situate on the North-West side of the Road, and bounded on the South-East by the Main Line of Road, on the North-West by a hill known as the Fox Borough, on the South-West by land bequeathed by me to my son James, and on the North-East by land of William Dwyer.
I direct my Executor hereinafter named to sell the land and premises known as the Ridge Land and from and out of the proceeds thereof to pay to my son Edmund and Roderick J. the sum of fifty dollars each, (written in the margin altered by my hand John Quinlan,) and the balance, if any, to be used in having Masses celebrated for the repose of my soul and the soul of my dear wife, Mary. I appoint my said son Patrick Executor of this my Will. St. John's, October 27th., 1909. JOHN QUINLAN The hundred dollars mentioned within is in the savings Bank St. John's N.F.Ld. Signed, published and declared by the said Testator as and for his last Will and Testament, in our presence who in his presence at his request and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses. Know all me that I John Quinlan have changed my mind since my first will was writen and that my Ridge land that was to be sold and my two sons Edmund and Rody John was to get fifty dollars each of the money that would be got for it. Now I bequeath and give to my daughter Mary A Hyns that one hundred dollars if the land is ever sold and that amount got for it I also give to my daughter Mary Ann Hyns the fether bed that I lie on also the bedstid and my daughter in law Katie Quinlan is to have the other four three 3 beds and bedstids now in the house, also what ever other furniture there is now in the house at present
my son Patrick Quinlan is to have my horse and carriage as he gave me $80.00 when I bought the said (noted in the margin altered until later on John Quinlan) horse for $85.00.
