Will of John Petten

In re     JOHN PETTEN.     DECEASED. I, John Petten, resident of Bareneed, District of Portdegrave, Newfoundland, do declare this to be my last Will and Testament.

    I give and bequeath to my son, Walter Petten, his heirs and assigns forever all my estate consisting of:
    1. A dwelling house and outhouses.

    2. A piece of land, on which the said dwelling house and outhouses stand, bounded as follows: North by the water Wm J. Stevens, South, by the main road, east, by the estate of the late Robert Stevens, and west, by the estate of harry French.

        My wife, Rhoda Petten, is to make her home in the said house and on the said estate only as long as she remains in my name, and in the event of her marrying again, she is to take away with her all her personal property only, which she brought here when I married her, viz: a bed and bedding, one sewing machine and sundry other articles.

        I hereby appoint my brother, Samuel Petten, to be the sole executor of this my will and testament.

        I hereby revoke all other wills made by me heretofore.

        In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal this 24th day of December, 1924.

    Signed, sealed and delivered by the said John Petten as for his last Will and testament, in the presence of us, present at the same time, at his request, in his presence and in the presence of each other, have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses to the due execution thereof, this 24th day of December 1924.
