John Murphy deceased.

This is the last will and testament of me John Murphy of Harbor Grace in the Island of Newfoundland, Planter. In the first place I direct that all my just debts, funeral and testamentary expenses be paid out of any moneys of which I may die possessed or be entitled to. I give devise and bequeath to my wife Ellen Murphy during her natural life all the house, field, garden and premises which I now occupy in Harbor Grace, and also all moneys in the Savings Bank or elsewhere and all other property of which I may die possessed and I hereby give to my said wife power to draw such amount of the said moneys as may be requisite for her comfortable support. After the death of the said Ellen Murphy I give devise and bequeath the said house, field, garden and premises to my grandchildren Mary Murphy and John Murphy their heirs and assigns for ever but should either of my said grandchildren die without leaving lawful issue I give devise and bequeath his or her share thereof to the survivor and his or her heirs for ever. After the death of the said Ellen Murphy I give devise and bequeath all my furniture and other personal property not herein otherwise bequeathed to my said grandson John Murphy for ever. I give devise and bequeath to the Right Reverend John Dalton Bishop of Harbor Grace the sum of fifty pounds currency for Masses for the good of my soul to be paid immediately after my decease, and should any more moneys remain after the death of my said wife I give devise and bequeath to Patrick Strapp Junior the sum of fifty pounds currency and should any more moneys remain after payment of the said legacy I give devise and bequeath the same share and share alike to my daughters Ann Ryan wife of John Ryan and Norah Strapp wife of the said Patrick Strapp Junior. In case of the death of both my said grandchildren John Murphy and Mary Murphy without leaving lawful issue I give devise and bequeath the house field garden and premises hereinbefore bequeathed to them to my said daughters Ann Ryan and Norah Strapp their heirs and assigns for ever share and share alike- And I hereby appoint John Munn Esquire of Harbor Grace aforesaid, Merchant, Executor to this my will and I hereby revoke all other will or wills by me heretofore made and declare this to be my last will and testament In witness whereof I have hereunto my hand and seal subscribed and set this sixteenth day of July A.D. one thousand eight hundred and sixty.
