In the name of God Amen. I John Healey of the Parish of Killmacow Ireland late of Newfoundland though being bad in health and constitution still of perfect mind and memory, and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die, do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament, that is to say first and last of all I give and recommend my Soul into the hand of Almighty God that give it and my body I commend to the earth to be buried in decent Christian Burial at the discretion of my Executors, nothing doubting but at the general Resurrection I shall receive the same again by the Almighty power of God. And as touching such worldly Estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me in this life I give desire and dispose of the same in the following manner and form.
First I give and bequeath to Johanna my dearly beloved Wife the sum of Forty five pounds Cash together with the whole of the Potatoes now laying in her possession. She is also to have the Cow which remains on the premises with whatever profit may arise from her until next fall which she is then to sell and with the profit to buy another but should she deem it required from want or scarcety of money she is at liberty to sell the Cow and the money she is to give to Roger Hanrahan Senr: to hold it for her until the Forthy five pounds are expended then should she require it for her support she is to receive it but should any of these money last mentioned remain in the hands of Roger Hanrahan he is to pay or cause to be paid to Philip Meany the Husband of Margaret my Daughter when called on. I likewise give to my beloved Wife the Potatoe Garden which is convenient to the Dwelling House with the part of Kitchen Garden lately ocupied by her she is also to have the management of her own Room down the Harbour known by the name of Walls Room. Also I give to Margaret my Daughter Ten pounds of good and lawful money of Great Britain together with Twenty pounds for to be converted into use for the education of her Children, those moneys last mentioned that is to say the Ten pounds and the Twenty pounds are to be deposited in the hands of the aforesaid Roger Hanrahan which money he will please to give Philip Meany the Husband of Margaret Meany when circumstances [line of text cutoff]... and land with all the effects that may be called my property I bequeath to my Grand Son Michael Meaney which he is to receive when at Age but should either the Father or Mother or both survive his arrival to Age they are still to live in the House and keep possession of it and all the property during their life but after their Deth it becomes his property. But should any incidental misfortune intervene so as to cause the Deth of Michael Meaney this House and land already mentioned will fall to his Brother John Meaney or his Successors. The Mair which Philip Meaney has in his possession and which he is to keep, Johanna my Wife is to have for her use also when she may please to require her, And also she is to remain in the House during her life there to enjoy the same privileges as when I lived with her. I also expect that there will be Three pounds given to the Clergy that is to say One Guenny to each of the Priests of Harbor Grace, and should there be any money remaining after my Funeral Expences I expect my Executors will put it to the best advantage for those whom have the best right to it.
And I do hereby utterly disallow revoke and disannul all and every other former Will and Testament Wills legacies bequests and Executors by me in any wise before named willed and bequeathed ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last Will. And in Witness where of I have hereunto set my hand and Seal this 27th day of February in the year of our lord One thousand eight hundred and twenty seven.
