Being now about to leave for a trip on the Labrador I wish to write these few lines fearing that any thing may happen to me while away. First it is my wish that after this seasons fishing everything in the fishing line will be sold & my Bills paid. I have $4000.00 on my life that with the fishing outfit will pay all my Bills. Then the East Store must be closed up after trying to sell off all the Stock. Then try by fair means to collect all I am owed. That should stock the West store for next falls business and it is my earnest wish that my true friend & helper Edward French do all the above. Then if he is satisfied I wish him to remain as he now is running the West Store. When he will easily make sufficient to support my dear little family & his own Run the Store on a strictly cash basis as credit is so very very risky. For the present year Neds salary is fixed at 280.00. If he remains & it is my earnest wish that he will he must have 300.00 the year of 1913 & if he can make the business pay up to 2000.00 per year for the following 5 years he must have 20.00 per year advance. My dear wife & children I wish to remain in the Home. Ned to act as guardian or trustee for them giving them only as he knows the business will warrant them having & taking good care of my 3 children & the one that is to come within the next 4 months. Should my wife marry again she is not to have one item of my Home or money. But the whole amount to be kept going for my children And in other words it is my earnest wish that Ned shall remain running the business untill Clifford is 18 years of age when he can take over the same. He Clifford is then to support his mother if not again married His Sister Muriel 7 Brother Oscar & the one thats to come. To my father Brother Mother & Sisters I leave kind remembrance and I believe they will fully understand me knowing I can only barely leave enough to keep my own dear boys & girl. Certainly they may have any little thing in remembrance of me. But my memory is I have no money to leave them. I believe Ned can run the West Store 7 make a very good living for my dear wife & children Also a good living for himself. Certainly if he refuses to do this then everything must be sold West Store & all without my wife thinks she can run the West Store when everything can be done same as I did do at first. Now my dear ones I wish I could leave you more but I have had a very hard up hill climb & times have been hard. So I am doing all what I think best & may that in the years to come you will sometimes think of him who has practically given his life for you is the last wish & desire of JOHN GEORGE HIERLIHY.

As I am about to leave for Labrador again one can never tell what may happen. So I am writing to say that I wish things to remain as I have directed in the enclosed. Ned I wish to remain running the business only his salary is now 360.00. Also my family now includes dear little Marjory who must be included in everything. I have now 6000.00 on my life, that and my fishing business will pay all I woe & the Home and business can be run to support my dear family in comfort untill Clifford becomes old enough to look after it. Sorry my dear ones that I cannot leave you better off but I have done my best. Should my wife marry again I particularly wish that any income from my estate to her shall cease & all revert to my dear children. Now good bye & may God protect us all untill we meet again.
