Will of John Foote
The last will of John Foote, late of

Carbonear, Sailmaker deceased

By the Grace of God. Amen I John Foote Sail Maker Carbonear being sound in mind and considering the uncertainty of life do make publish and declare this to be my last will and testament as follows

first after my lawful debts are paid I give and bequeath to my son John Foote the house on Water Street now occupied by him with part of the furniture now in it I also give him the sail loft situated on Patrick Street and all pertinence pertaining thereto also the Long Drung(?) field The organ to be given to my two granddaughters Maggie and Tina, The wattnot(?) to be given to Maud Duff and the parlour chair to be given to Ursula Taylor, The sewing machine to Ida Peach and to Maggie Cunningham. The house and store and stable and land, situated in Canvas town, is to be rented, or sold, and the money to be collected by my executors named in this will, and divided equally between my five daughters Isabella Thompson, Ursula Taylor, Ida Peach, Margaret Cunningham, Maud Duff. I have credit amounts due me as shown in my book, to be collected, together with ninety five dollars $95.00 in hand, which is to defray funeral expenses, tombstone, railing etc, for myself and my wife, when required. If not enough money to meet this expense, money to be taken from Canvas Town property. If more than is needed the balance to be divided as stated above It is also my will and wish should my wife outlive me, that my son John, shall take care of her while she lives, and she is to occupy her own bedroom immediately over the kitchen.

I hereby appoint as my executors Jas D. Peach, J.P. Guy of this my last will and testament whereof I the testator have hereunto set my hand this first day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and four. John Foote witness to signature W. Tucker, Allen Cammeron.

Signed published and declared by the said John Foote to be his last will & testament in the presence of us who in his presence at his request and in the presence of each other hereunto subscribed our names this 1st day of July, 1904. witness.
