In the Name of God Amen. I JOHN CLARK SENR of Crockers Cove Conception Bay in the Island of Newfoundland being in Health of Body and of sound mind and memory and considering the shortness and uncertainty of this life do hereby make my last Will and Testament in Manner and form following that is to say…. Item – I give & bequeath to my son JAMES CLARK his Heirs, Executors, administrators & assigns that part of a fishing Room or Plantation which he now occupies including one half of a place commonly known by the name of the Gulch & from that to the Eastward as also all the buildings that are or may be standing at my decease….. Item – I give and bequeath to my grandson WILLIAM CLARK SENR of WILLIAM The Fishing Room & Plantation which I now occupy that is to say The Old Stage or that part which belongs to me jointly with the Widow DEAN, as also the Flake room beginning at the half of the Gulch and from that to the Westward as also the other flake as it now stands, also the half of a fish House the Other half belonging to the said Widow DEAN together with Dwelling House Gardens and Meadows, above and below the Hill, on Condition that during my life time he supports me and my wife MARY CLARK or if she should survive me he continue the same support to her during her life time then and that case to be enjoyed by him, his Heirs Executors administrators or assigns forever…. Item – I give and bequeath to my beloved wife MARY CLARK all the furniture & cloaths which may belong to me at my decease for she to dispose of it as she thinks proper…. Item – I give and bequeath to my Grandson JOHN CLARK son of WILLIAM that House which he now occupies at the back of my Dwelling House with a Kitchen Garden before the Door as far as the Calves Pen which said part of the Plantation is not to be claimed by WM. CLARK but quietly and peaceably to be enjoyed by the same JOHN CLARK, His Heirs, Executors Administrators or Assigns for Ever…. In Witness whereof I hereunto set my hand and seal in Crockers Cove, Newfoundland this twelfth day of July One Thousand eight hundred and four.
