Probate Court Saint John’s Newfoundland

Spaniard Bay, May the 28, 1816.
This is the Last Dying Will and Declaration of James Celly. He leaves his money to Matthew McGrath of Spaniards Bay. One bill of Fifty odd pounds drawn on benefit(?), and nineteen pound ten shillings in another drawn on Ledgard, due from Rich Callahan Fifteen shillings, due from Patrick Butler Fifteen shillings, James Duggin 4 pound-15 shillings due. Due from James Byrn 2 pounds-16 shillings-0. Due from James Celly to John Murray, Carbonear, 5 shillings. To Mc Mickee Three shillings due to Michael Kennedy. Due to Matthew McGrath 4 pounds-10 shillings.
Giving under my hand James Celly the day and date above mentioned.

In the Probate Court St John’s Newfoundland

I the undersigned, Matthew McGrath, the person named in the annexed instrument of writing, do hereby for myself, my heirs, Executors and Administrators relinquish all claim to the Estate and Effects of James Kelly of the County Kilkenny, Ireland, but late of Spaniards Bay, Planter, Deceased.
As I am well aware that it was the instruction of the said late James Kelly, that I should collect all his debts and realize his effects and pay such debts as shall be due by the said deceased and that the balance remaining in my hands, should be by me delivered into this Court for the purpose of being payed William Walsh of St. John’s, Carpenter, and Mary his wife, who is the only daughter and child of the said late James Kelly with a true full and particular account of my Administration.
Given under my hand and seal at St John’s Newfoundland this 6th of June 1816.
