INTESTATE ESTATE OF HEZEKIAH BUTT
PERRY'S COVE, CONCEPTION BAY VOL 2 F-229 The Honorable Henry John Boutton (sp?) Chief Justice and the Honorable Edward Bratazion(sp?) Brenton(sp?) and George Lilly (sp?) Assistant Judges, Supreme Court Administration May 1837 to the widow THE PETITION OF ELIZABETH BUTT OF PERRY'S COVE, CONCEPTION BAY HUMBLY THEREWITH That your Petitioner Husband Hezekiah Butt late of Perry's Cove was drowned from the Brig Experiment after leaving Carbonear on a Sealing voyage in the month of March - leaving your Petitioner (sp?) (but writ with no children alive) him only surviving that the Share of Seals to which your Petitioners husband's Estate is entitled amounts to about thirty pounds (sp?) now in the hands of Messrs. Pack, Gosse and Fryer and which sum of money cannot be paid to your Petitioner without Administration and being in great want both of food and clothing your Petitioner most humbly prays that Administration may be committed to her and as in duty bound will ever Pray.
Sworn to at Before John Stark Commissioner The deponent further swears she will be nineteen years of age in June next and this deponent was married to her late Husband aforesaid one year and eight months since viz in September 1835. The deponent's late Husand left no Father him surviving but left a Mother Sarah Butt in Perry's Cove and four brothers, three of whom are of age and one yet a minor-this deponant's husband was twenty-three years of age at his death.
