In the name of God Amen.    I Francis Jeffers of Fresh Water in Conception Bay in the Island of Newfoundland, Planter, being at present confined to my bed in an ill state of health but of sound mind and memory and knowing the uncertainty of this life and the certainty of death do make and ordain this my last will and testament, and first when it shall please God to call me from this vale of tears I then bequeath my soul into the hands of my merciful God who created and redeemed it and my body I deliver to the earth to be therein decently interred in the humble hope of the resurrection to eternal life at the last day by the almighty power of my glorious Redeemer Jesus Christ my Lord in whom I believe whom I love and will forever adore.     And as for the temporal goods which has pleased God to commit to my charge, I leave and bequeath to my son Samuel Jeffers all that fishing room and plantation now in my possession conjointly with my brother Joseph Jeffers situate in Fresh Water bounded on the east by William Davis, on the west by Jonathan Moors, on the North by the Woods, and on the south by the Sea together with half of a dwelling house and stable to have and to hold the same to him and his heirs, administrators or assigns forever and I do hereby constitute and appoint John Noel and Edward Penny to be executors to this my last will and testament and do hereby revoke and make null and void all other wills and testaments heretofore made by me or bearing my name and do pronounce and declare this to be my only true last will and testament.     Given under my hand and seal in Fresh Water Conception Bay in the Island of Newfoundland aforesaid this the twenty first day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty one,     Francis his X mark Jeffers (LS)     In the presence of us Joseph H.
