In the name of God Amen I Charles J. Mercer of Saml Bay Roberts being now very weak in body but sound in mind maketh this my last will and Testament that is to say as follows I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Patience Mercer the dwelling house I now occupy with all household effects and surrounding gardens The gardens known as the Hill Garden I give to my sons Charles and Eli. Eli is to have one quarter the remaining three quarters to be Charles. the property at Bears Cove is to equally divided in three parts, between Eli Charles and Nathan Mercer my sons, the place Eli now occupies is to be his, the property at Shears two gardens one on the north side of the road is for Nathan and the garden on the south is to be equally divided between Charles and Eli the out houses and cellar is to be Nathans with dwelling house & effects and surrounding gardens mentioned above after my said wife’s Patience Mercer decease.

In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal this 22nd day of July A.D. one thousand nine hundred and four.
