In re CATHERINE DOOLING: DECEASED. This is the last and sole will and testament of me Catherine Dooling of Harbor Grace in the Island of Newfoundland Widow. It is my will and desire that all my just debts funeral and testamentary expenses be paid by my executors hereinafter named out of my personal estate I give devise and bequeath to my sister Judith Johnson of Harbor Grace aforesaid Widow and her heirs and assigns for ever all that my land dwelling house outhouses and appurtenances which I now occupy and where I now live, situate in Water Street Harbor Grace aforesaid. I also give devise and bequeath unto the said Judith Johnson her executors administrators and assigns all the furniture utensils and other property contained and now being in the said dwelling house. I also give devise and bequeath to the said Judith Johnson her executors administrators and assigns all my stock in trade. I give devise and bequeath unto the Reverend John O’Connor Catholic Priest of Carbonear his executors administrators and assigns the sum of three hundred pounds equal to twelve hundred dollars upon trust to hold the same to and for the use and benefit of my grandchildren hereinafter named and in manner as hereinafter directed until they respectively become of the age of twenty one years That is to say To and for the use and benefit of Michael Joseph Dooling the sum of one hundred pounds equal to four hundred dollars. To and for the use and benefit of Philip Stephen Dooling the sum of fifty pounds equal to two hundred dollars. To and for the use and benefit of John Joseph Dooling the sum of fifty pounds equal to two hundred dollars- To and for the use and benefit of Patrick Dooling the sum of fifty pounds equal to two hundred dollars. To and for the absolute use and benefit of Margaret Mary Green the sum of fifty pounds equal to two hundred dollars. And I direct my said trustee to place the said sums of money respectively at interest in the Savings Bank of St. John’s Newfoundland until each of my said grandchildren shall attain the age of twenty one years. And when each said grandchild attains that age I do further direct my said trustee to pay him or her the sum hereby devised with the interest thereon. In the event of either or any of my said grandchildren dying without attaining the age of twenty one years as aforesaid then the share or shares with the interest thereon of the said grandchild or grandchildren so dying as aforesaid shall be equally divided among and become the respective property of the surviving grandchildren share and share alike.Provided that if a Mortuary Chapel be erected on the Harbor Grace Catholic Cemetery ground Carbonear Head, I will devise and bequeath to the Catholic Bishop of Harbor Grace or his successors in office the sum of twenty pounds equal to eighty dollars towards the furnishing of an altar in said Chapel I will and bequeath the sum of ten pounds each equal to forty dollars each to the Presentation Convents of Harbor Grace and Carbonear I will devise and bequeath to the Abbott of Mount Mallary Cappoquin County Waterford Ireland the sum of five pounds equal to twenty dollars I will devise and bequeath unto the Benevolent Irish Society of Harbor Grace the sum of five pounds equal to twenty dollars I appoint John Fennell Esquire Clerk of the Peace Harbor Grace executors of this my last and sole will and testament I hereby revoke disannul and make void all former or other wills testaments writings testamentary or codicils ever made by me and declare this to be my last and sole will and testament In witness whereof I have hereunto my hand and seal subscribed and set at Harbor Grace aforesaid this fourteenth day of July Anno Domini one thousand eight hundred and seventy, Catherine Dooling (LS) Signed sealed published and declared by the said testator Catherine Dooling as and for her last and sole will and testament in the presence of us who in her presence and at her request and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses the name “Waterford” being first duly written and interlined on the second page line thirty second and the name “Wexford” stricken out, Henry A. This is a codicil to the will of me Catherine Dooling of Harbor Grace, widow, dated the fourteenth day of July Anno Domini one thousand eight hundred and seventy. Whereas I gave and devised to my sister Judith Johnson all that my land dwelling house outhouses and appurtenances where I now live it is my will and I devise the little garden adjoining the said dwelling house unto the said Judith Johnson her heirs and assigns in addition to the property so devised Whereas by my said will I gave devised and bequeathed to the Abbott of Mount Millary Cappoquin county Waterford Ireland the sum of five pounds equal to twenty dollars, now it is my will and I devise and bequeath the said sum of five pounds or twenty dollars to the Society of the House of the Angel Guardian Boston, Mass. United States of America of which Society I am a member And whereas I devised and bequeath by said will the sum of five pounds or twenty dollars to the Benevolent Irish Society of Harbor Grace now it is my will and I devise and bequeath the said sum of five pounds or twenty dollars to the said Society of the House of the Angel Guardian Boston Mass. United States of America of which Society I am a member.
