In re: ABRAHAM MERCER. DECEASED
In the name of God Amen I Abraham Mercer of Bay Roberts Conception Bay, Newfoundland planter, being sound in mind, but feeble in body do on this sixth day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventy seven make and declare this to be my last will and testament:
1st: I will that the piece of land owned by me and lying to the north of land owned by Charles Mercer of Robert measuring four acres or thereabout be divided into two equal parts by a right line running N. & S. & I give the western portion to my son Stephen, and the Eastern part to my son Nathaniel.
My Kitchen garden at the back of my dwelling and the wood yard, I give to my son Stephen also the piece of land I own near the church, bounded on the N by Xsts Mercer S. By Charles Mercer East by Charles Mercer of Chas. & on the west by William Hoods.
My waterside property bounded by Charles Daw on the west & by Charles Mercer of Robert on the East measuring one hundred and twenty four feet I will to be divided equally between my son Stephen and Nathaniel - Stephen to have the western half with the store thereon - allowing Nathaniel the use of said store for a reasonable period until he build one for himself and Nathaniel the Eastern part
I give my dwelling house with all the furniture and moveables to my son Stephen also the cellar but with the proviso that my son Nathaniel be allowed to use it for a few years until he gets one of his own. And I appoint Robert Mercer of Charles, and Eli Mercer of Absalom to be the executors of this my last will and testament, and I charge them before God to see it well and duly carried into effect Abraham his X mark Mercer signed, sealed, and delivered by the above named testator Abraham Mercer, in our presence and in the presence of each other this sixth day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventy-seven witnesses William Hood Susanna Mercer
