John Morrissey

The last will and testament of John Morrissey of Brigus District of Port De Grave considering the uncertainty of this mortal life and being of sound mind and memory [blessed be Almighty God for the same] do make and publish this my last will and testament, in manner and form following [that is to say]

First. I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Mary Morrissey of Brigus aforesaid my dwelling house, outhouses, gardens and more fully described in deed from Mrs. William Way with all my personal effects with power to sell if necessary for her support and after her death to become the property of my two sons viz John Morrissey and James Morrissey of Brigus aforesaid.

Second. I give and bequeath to my sons John Morrissey and James Morrissey aforesaid two pieces or parcels of land situate and being at the Irishtown of Brigus aforesaid No. 1 lot bounded on the North by main road on the South by John Morrissey of William on the East by a path to the brook and on the West by the said John Morrissey of William. No. 2 lot bounded on the North by the main road on the South by the estate of the late Patrick Morrissey East by Thomas Walkers land and on the West by the estate of the late Patrick Morrissey aforesaid.

Third. I give and bequeath my fishing room situate and being at Cut-throat Labrador to my three sums viz. William Morrissey, John Morrissey and James Morrissey of Brigus aforesaid.

 I appoint my son John Morrissey to be sole executor of this my last will and testament. In witness whereof I have unto set my hand and seal this twelfth day of February in the year of our Lord nineteen hundred and seventeen. John Morrissey X his mark in presence of the same having being read over and fully explained Witness J. P. Hearn J. P. John Brien. 

The above instrument consisting of one sheet was now here subscribed by John Morrissey the testator, in the presence of each of us, and was at the same time declared by him to be his last will and testament; and we at his request, signed our names hereto as attesting witnesses.
