Adams Cove

Local Persons in the 1800s

This information is excerpted from a report on the history of Adam's Cove that is on file at the Memorial University of Newfoundland. The report was reproduced for me, but without a title page. Thus, I do not know the name of the author or the date that it was produced. Based on information in the report, I suspect that the report was written around 1970 or later. The report is interesting due to the amount of information obtained from personal interviews with local residents, and extensive citations from government documents of the 1800s. The list below contains names of persons in the report, along with the activity or occupation for which they were noted. I have included only references for persons in the 1800s and for which a specific date is cited. This is intended to help genealogists who are trying to link specific family members to specific points in time. The actual report contains additional names of later residents that also may be of interest to researchers, although many from the 1900s are not tied to specific dates. Notes added for interpretation purposes are contained in parentheses.     (Frederick M. Swed, Jr., Madison, Wisconsin)
