Will of Thomas Goddard

In re: THOMAS GODDARD. DECEASED

I Thomas Goddard of Burin Newfoundland planter, being of sound mind & memory do make this my last will & Testament in manner & form following. That is to say

1st I give & bequeath to my beloved wife Mary Ann, my dwelling house, with all land & cattle owned by me during the term of her natural life, and after which the two lots of land now in my possession & dwelling House to be the property of my two sons Will & Gabriel. The land to be equally divided between them, also the House except in case a house be built for Gabriel when the one now occupied by me shall become the property of William.

My son Gabriel to have one cow and two sheep as his share of the cattle also half the cow House. The Fishing Room viz stage, flake & store with all appertaining thereto, also the schr. "Lily" with all her gear I give & bequeath to my son William on condition that my wife & self be supported by these my two sons during our lives. In witness whereoff I hereunto set my seal & hand this 27th day of March Anno Domino, one thousand eight hundred and ninety six Thomas his X mark Goddard (LS) Witness Geo. M Goddard     E. F.
