Will of James M. Lake
In re

James M. Lake deceased.

This is the last will and testament of me James M. Lake of Fortune, Newfoundland, Merchant, I give devise and bequeath all the real and personal estate of which I shall be possessed or entitled at the time of my decease unto my wife Mary Lake absolutely. And I appoint my said wife sole executrix of this my will But should my said wife Mary Lake change her name, then I will the house (dwelling) shop, store, stage and wharf, together with the land on which it stands to her in the name of her child Bertha Lake. Also unto my two daughters Nancy T. Lake and Sarah Lake, a share of the remaining property. In witness whereof I hereunto set my hand this twentieth first day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventy six.
