Will of Hugh A. Reddy from Newfoundland will books volume 10 pages 529-530 probate year 1917

 

 In re     Hugh A. Reddy     deceased.

    This is the last will of me Hugh A. Reddy of Marystown, Newfoundland, Merchant, and I revoke all former wills by me made. I appoint my wife, Catherine, my brother Michael and Joseph Long of Marystown aforesaid, executors of this my will
(1) I give to my son Richard the land and erections in Burin proper
(2) I give to my son Hugh the land at North side of Marystown
(3) I give to my son Edmund the land at Marystown bought by me from Thomas Roff
(4) I give to my son John the land west end of Marystown which was bought from T. Brenton
(5) all money in Savings Bank Department of the Bank of Nova Scotia in my name I give to my sons Richard and Hugh in equal shares
(6) as my wife owns the land where my Marystown business is carried on in the name of Reddy Brothers I give her all erection thereon and all other lands to which I am entitled
(7) I desire my brother, Michael to carry on the Marystown business as heretofore and his interest therein shall be deemed to be one-third but it is to be understood that the erections made on the land are to be my wife’s and not the firms
(8) Two-thirds of the said Marystown business of Reddy Brothers I give to my wife until her death or marriage which ever event first happens and after to all my children in such shares as my executors or the majority of them decide and the proceeds of said business or the two thirds net share of profits to go to my wife while she holds the interest therein to be used by her for herself and family as she deems well and afterwards to my children according to their shares in said business
(9) I have lately established a business in the name of Reddy Brothers at Little Bay, in the Electoral District of Burin, in which business and premises my said brother Michael holds a half interest and I give the other half interest o my wife until her death or marriage which ever event first happens and after to all my children in such shares as my executors or the majority of them decide and the proceeds of said business or the half net share of profits to go to my wife while she holds the interest therein such profits to be used by her for herself and family as she deems well and afterwards to my children according to their shares in said business
(10) the residue of my estate I give to my wife until her death or marriage which ever event first happens and after to my children in equal shares or such shares as my executors or the majority may decide
(11) It is my wish that my son Richard should enter into the business when my wife decides and that she should as one of the executors take as active a part therein as is possible and that persons dealing with Reddy Brothers shall in no way be prejudiced that minors are interested therein nor my executors be held responsible for any acts of theirs done in good faith in the conduct of said business In witness whereof I have set my hand to this my will this 9th day of May Anno Domini Nineteen hundred and twelve - Hugh Reddy - Signed by the said testator Hugh A.
