Will of Aaron Grandy from Newfoundland will books volume 10 pages 537-538 probate year 1917

 

 In re     Aaron Grandy     deceased.

    I Aaron Grandy of Grand Bank in the District of Burin, Newfoundland, being of sound and disposing mind and memory do make and publish this my last will and testament.
1st. My dwelling house with outhouses and surrounding land, together with all furniture and contents not herein after mentioned, I give devise and bequeath to my daughter, Azalea Harding.
2nd. My meadow land at Point Bruley I give and devise to my Grand son Roy Grandy.
3rd. My meadow land near the Cove I give and devise to my son George Grandy and my daughter Azalea Harding in equal parts to each; provided that before the lands is divided, a road giving access to the back part shall be reserved out of the front part
4th. Out of six hundred and thirty one (631) dollars loaned to my son George Grandy and invested in the Schooner “Arnold” for which he is accountable, I give and bequeath to my said son George Grandy four hundred ($400) dollars; to my grandson Roy Grandy sixty (60) dollars and the balance to my two granddaughters Esther and Emily children of my daughter Azalea.
5th. Out of four hundred and twenty five (425) dollars in the Bank of Nova Scotia, I give and bequeath to my son Charles Grandy, two hundred and fifty dollars ($250).
6th To my son George Grandy I give and bequeath 1 wheelbarrow, 1 plough plane, 1 round and hollow plane, one pair of compasses and two hay forks; 1 long iron plane.
7th. To my son in law, George Harding, I give and bequeath one wheel barrow and all my tools not before mentioned.
8th. To my granddaughter Esther Harding I give and bequeath my bed and the furniture of my bedroom.
9th. To my granddaughter, Emily Harding, I give and bequeath one bed.
10th. All the rest, residue and remainder of my estate remaining in my possession at the time of my decease, I give devise and bequeath to my son George Grandy and my son-in-law George Harding, in equal parts to each.
11th. I appoint my son George Grandy and my son-in-law George Harding to be executors of this my will, and I hereby revoke all former wills by me at any time heretofore made and declare this writing and no other to be my last will and Testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name at Grand Bank this twelfth day of October, in the year of our Lord 1911 (Sgd) Aaron Grandy.     Signed by Aaron Grandy, the testator and by him declared to be his last will and testament, in our presence, who in his presence, and in the presence of each other, at the same time at his request, subscribe our names as witnesses.
