Sarah Ann Patten deceased
In the name of God. Amen. I, Sarah Ann Patten of Grand Bank in the District of Burin, Newfoundland, Widow, being of sound and disposing mind and memory, do make and publish this my last will and testament. 1st. My land situate on the Church Road, with dwelling house outhouses and appurtances. I give and devise, equally to Wilson James, Sarah Vera, Edith Amelia, and Walter Charles, children of my late son, Walter C. Patten, deceased, Provided that the said land shall not be divided or sold before the youngest of the four shall have come to the age of 21 years, and during the minority of the said devisees, and profits that may accrue out of the said land, for rents or otherwise, shall be applied and used for the benefit of the children of my said son Walter C. Patten, and further provided that the widow of the said Walter C. Patten shall have the right to reside in the said dwelling house as long as she remains a widow. Should any of the above named devisees die before coming of age, his, her, or their part is to go to those surviving, and in the event of all dying before coming of age, then the whole to be divided among the surviving children of the said Walter C. Patten. 2nd. My piece of land at Admirals Cove, I give and devise in equal shares to my seven grandchildren, issue of my said son Walter C. Patten In the event of any of them dying before coming of age, the said land to be equally divided among those surviving. 3rd, My bed and the contents of my bedroom. I give and bequeath to my grand daughter, Sarah Vera Patten. 5th. I appoint my son John. B. Patten to be executor of this my will, and I hereby revoke all former wills by me at any time heretofore made, and declare this writing and no other to be my last will and testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand this 26th day of March in the year of our Lord 1913. S.A. Patten.
Signed by Sarah Ann Patten the testatrix and by her declared to be her last will and testament in our presence, who in her presence and in the presence of each other at the same time subscribe our names as witnesses.
