William Carter deceased.

In the name of God Amen, I William Carter of Ship Island Greenspond, Bonavista Bay, Planter, being of sound mind and memory but weak in body do make this my last will & Testament in which I bequeath to my wife Mary Ann Carter to hold as long as she remains a widow, my share of all the property held jointly by Fredric James Carter my second son and myself, viz: A House garden ground & fishing room & stage & flake in our own use; a house in the occupation of Mr. Long with garden attached a house & shop two stores two wharves and a garden in the occupation of Mr. Smallwood, together with our fore & aft schooner “Mary Green” & all twines, lines, nets & whatever I die possessed of (the said Mary Ann Carter I do make my sole executrix) to be held for her own and the children’s benefit, Ship Island, Aug. 24th 1870.
