IN RE: THOMAS MADDIX. DECEASED
In the name of God Amen I Thomas Maddix Shoe - Maker of Kings Cove Bonavista Bay Newfoundland do declare this to be my last will & Testament I hereby bequeath to John Maddix of John my part of the "Hill Garden".
I bequeath that garden called the Cabbage garden to Isaac Maddix
I bequeath that Garden which I bought from Mrs David Ryan to Michael Maddix of John.
I further order that those to whom I have bequeathed my land must keep it fenced while my wife is living and if not she is at liberty to give it to whom she likes to keep the fence around it My wife is to have control of all the land while she is alive and those to whom I have left it must look to her while she is living should she be in need of anything being done for her.
Whatever Pegs Sparrow bills hemp & sprigs are in my work shop is to be divided between William & George Maddix The remainder of my shoe making out fit I leave to George Maddix except Four pair of Lasts of different sizes which I leave to William Maddix I wish for George Maddix to keep my wife if she should live to be in need of of anything
The Roll of Sole leather and two Rolls of Calfskin which are there are for my wife to sell or return to Bowring Bros and get the value of it for herself and the loose cut Leather which is there my wife can sell it to whom she likes
I leave to John Francis Maddix My Dwelling house and store near by after my wifes death but while she is living she is to have and own it and John Francis have it after she dies Signed by Testator this Twenty fifth day of March nineteen hundred and eleven at Kings Cove and declared by him to be his last will & testament in the presence of us present and of each other Thomas his x mark Maddix Testator witnesses Maurice Walsh James Barron
