Will of  Reverend Thomas E. Lynch
In re the estate of

Reverend Thomas E. Lynch (deceased)

In the name of God Amen. I Revd. Thomas E. Lynch of Kings Cove Bonavista Bay Parish Priest do make publish and declare this as and for my last will and testament

First I will and direct that all my just debts funeral and testamentary expenses be paid as soon as possible after my death.

Secondly I give devise and bequeath to my father Mr. John Lynch of Harbor Grace the proceeds of the policy of Insurance on my life in the New York Mutual Life Assoc. Co. Also my horse, cart, carriage and all farming tools and implements.

Thirdly I give devise and bequeath to my executors hereinafter named the sum of three thousand dollars to be by them invested in good reliable security and held in trust to apply the interest and income arising from such investment to and towards the support and maintenance of sick priests of the Diocese of Harbor Grace in such manner as they may think best.

Fourthly I give devise and bequeath to my executors hereinafter named the sum of five hundred dollars to be expended by them in the manner following that is to say: the sum of two hundred and fifty dollars for masses for the repose of my soul and two hundred and fifty dollars for the repose of the souls of those for whom I was obliged to say masses but may unconsciously have omitted to say.

Fifthly I give devise and bequeath the sum of three hundred dollars to Mr. John Long Relieving officer in trust to be expended amongst the poor of Kings Cove Catholic Parish.

Sixthly I give devise and bequeath to my sister Margaret Brown all my lands and real estate and also the remainder of my moneys goods and effects for her own use and benefit.

Seventhly I hereby nominate constitute and appoint the Very Revd. Archdeacon O’Neill of St. John’s and the Revd. William Finn of St. Brendans Catholic priests to be the executors of this my will

Eighthly, I hereby revoke annul and declare void all other and former wills made by me

Signed published and declared as and for his last will and testament by the Revd. Thomas E. Lynch of Kings Cove in our presence who in his presence and at his request and in the presence of each other have hereto subscribed our hands as witnesses at St. John’s this 20th day of September A.D. 1905

In the first place I will and direct that the funds in my said will directed to be expended for the support and maintenance of sick priests shall be expended by His Lordship the Bishop of Harbor Grace for the said purpose instead of by my executors.

In the second place I will and direct that the proceeds of the Insurance policy on my life in the New York Mutual Insurance instead of being paid absolutely to my father John Lynch shall be held by my executors in my said will named in trust to pay the income and profits thereof to my father during his lifetime and after his death to divide the same between my two brothers John Lynch and Joseph Lynch share and share alike

and Lastly I hereby confirm and ratify my said will in all other respects.

In witness whereof the said testator has hereto subscribed his hand as a codicil to his last will and testament dated the 20th day of September last past in our presence who in his presence and at his request and in the presence of each other have hereto subscribed our hands as witnesses at St. John’s this 17th day of October A.D. 1905.
