Will of George Brown
In re

George Brown deceased.

In the name of God Amen. I George Brown of Bonavista in the Island of Newfoundland being of sound and collected mind memory and understanding but mindful of my mortality do this fourteenth day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty eight make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form following, that is to say, first I desire <s>that</s> all my just debts to be duly paid and also my funeral expenses. Secondly, I give and bequeath to my daughters Sarah and Jane and my two sons George and John Brown share and share alike my dwelling house, store, stable and outhouses, gardens and fields, together with my fishing room, flake and stage ground, beaches and all the appurtenances thereunto belonging also my funded or other property whatever it may consist of fishing craft and cattle all to be divided amongst them equally and should my daughter Susan Brown return to Bonavista to reside she is to have a share in the property aforesaid I also will and bequeath to my grandson Silas George Knight the sum of five pounds currency to be paid him to his use within twelve months after my decease- And I do hereby make ordain constitute and appoint Mr. Thomas Mifflen and Mr. Edward Mifflen both of Bonavista aforesaid executors of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all other wills and testaments by me at any time heretofore made. In witness whereof I have to this my last will and testament set and subscribed my hand and seal the day and year first above written. George Brown (LS) Signed sealed published and declared by the said testator George Brown for his last will and testament in the presence of us who at his request in his presence and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses thereto, Edward Mifflen, Thomas R. Mifflen.
