Joseph Brown deceased
This is the last Will and Testament of me Joseph Brown of King's Cove, Bonavista Bay in Northern District of Newfoundland. Fisherman, being of sound and disposing mind and memory do make and publish this as my last Will and Testament do hereby revoke all other Wills heretofore made by me.
I hereby appoint my son Walter Brown and Thomas Brown of John to be the Executors of my will. I give devise and bequeath to my son Walter Brown; the dwelling house occupied by me and furniture and stores therein. All the ground adjoining the house; cabbage garden, outhouses, the stable, all the piece of land purchased from Desmond and that piece of land purchased from Samson; also dwelling house and land adjoining and store now occupied by son Walter Brown; also, I give devise and bequeath my share of fishing room and store known as the dock store, and also the garden on Plate Cove Road to my son aforesaid Walter Brown on the condition that if my son Alfred Brown should return to King's Cove to live, he shall receive the Eastern half of above mentioned land bought from Desmond by Robert Brown and from Robert Brown by me. I give devise and bequeath my big Family Bible to my son Frederick Brown. I give devise and bequeath all my land houses or possessions whatsoever and wheresoever situate and not hereinbefore described to my son Walter Brown I hereby make the condition that my funeral expenses and tomb-stone be provided by the Executors aforementioned out of my possessions. I do declare this to be my last Will and Testament. In witness whereof I the said Joseph Brown have to this my last Will and Testament set my hand this twenty-sixth day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and sixteen. Joseph his X mark Brown Signed and declared by the said Joseph Brown the testator as and for his last Will and Testament; and read over in the presence of us who at his request and in presence of each other all being present at the same time have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses.
