Will of William Murray from Newfoundland will books volume 4 pages 16-17 probate year 1879

In re
          William Murray deceased.

This is the last will and testament of me William Murray of Saint John’s in the Island of Newfoundland Shopkeeper I give devise and bequeath ll the lands houses property goods chattels and effects of what nature and kind soever of which I shall be at the time of my death possessed to my beloved wife Lydia Radford for her sole use and benefit during her lifetime. And after her death I devise and bequeath the dwelling house shop and premises which I now occupy situate on the south side of Water Street in Saint John’s aforesaid together with the garden or yard in rear thereof also all the household goods and furniture (with the exception of one piano, two work tables, one Pembroke table, on oval table one bedstead and feather bed, one book case, one Rocking chair and one washstand, which I give and bequeath to my said wife absolutely) contained therein to my niece Elizabeth Knox wife of Robert Bone for ever. I also devise and bequeath the garden situate and commencing immediately to the eastward of the gallery attached to said dwelling house and extending thence to the eastern boundary of my property to Susan Carter and Betsy Carter (wife of Peter Payne) nieces of my said wife for ever. Also I desire that the sum of twenty pounds shall be paid out of my estate to the said Susan Carter. I also devise and bequeath my share or interest in a piece of land with house thereon situate in the town of Perth in Scotland to the eldest daughter of the said Elizabeth Knox wife of Robert Bone. And I hereby revoke all wills at any time heretofore made by me. Witness my hand at Saint John’s this fourteenth day of October A.D. one thousand eight hundred and seventy-eight. William Murray. Signed by the said William Murray the testator in our presence who in his presence and in the presence of each other at the same time subscribe our names as witnesses the words “eldest daughter of the” having first been interlined on this page. Codicil. I hereby revoke the bequest made by me in my foregoing will of my share and interest in a piece of land with houses thereon situate in the town of Perth in Scotland to the eldest daughter of Elizabeth Knox wife of Robert Bone and devise and bequeath the same to my nephew James Murray absolutely. Witness my hand this thirteenth day of November A.D. 1878. William Murray. Witnesses Alexr McKenzie, D. Morison.
