Will of William Thorne

IN RE:   WILLIAM THORNE. DECEASED

This is the last will and Testament of me William Thorne of Torbay, planter I devise and bequeath to my son Eli Thorne the dwelling - house, I now occupy with all my household furniture and effects, also my barn, with horse, carriage cart slide and farming implements including ground on which said dwelling-house and barn stand for his absolute use.

I do also devise and bequeath the monies deposited in my name, in the Government Savings Bank and in the Savings Bank in the Bank of Montreal with all interest thereon remaining to my credit at the time of my decease as follows.

  • To my daughter Mary Hannah Bennett now residing at New Harbour the sum of Two hundred dollars for her sole and separate use
  • to my daughter Elizabeth Sophia Griffin New York U.S.A. the sum of Two hundred dollars for her sole and separate use
  • to my daughter Emma Cole residing at Torbay the sum of Two hundred dollars for her sole and separate use,
  • Also to my four sons Samuel, Nathaniel William and Eli the Balance of monies above mentioned deposited in the aforesaid Banks - after the payment of the aforesaid legacies to my said three daughters - to be divided equally among them, share & share alike for their own sole use and benefit.
I do appoint Messrs Richard Codner, and my son - Eli Thorne of Torbay Executors of this my last will and Testament witness my hand at Torbay this twenty fifth day of March 25 A.D. 1908. William Thorne in the presence of us who in the Testator's presence and in the presence of each other, do hereby affix our signatures at Torbay this twenty fifth day of March 25 A.D. 1908.
