In re WILLIAM CARNELL. DECEASED.
This is the last will and testament of me William Carnell of St. John's Newfoundland, Inspector of Roads * hereby revoking all former wills by me made I make this my last will and testament. I will and bequeath as follows
1. To my son Thomas all the piece of land on the South Eastern side of the Quidi Vidi Road measuring along the said Road 25 feet and bounded on the North East by land conveyed to my daughter Jane Hipson
2. To my son John all that piece of land on the South Eastern side of the said road bounded thereby on the North East and measuring thereby 25 feet & bounded on the South West by land conveyed to Jane Hipson
3. To my Daughter Bella Parsons, wife of George Parsons, all that piece of land on the South Eastern side of the said road & measuring thereby 25 feet and bounded on the South West by land mentioned in the foregoing paragraph 2 as being being bequeathed to my son John. It is my will that the several pieces of land hereinbefore bequeathed to my sons Thomas and John and my daughter Bella Parsons as well as that conveyed to Jane Hipson shall be of equal dimensions that is measuring 25 feet frontage along the s
aid road and extending between parallel lines to the rear.
4. To my son William all that piece of land on the North Western side of the said road and measuring thereby 23 feet bounded on the South East by land now in my possession and on the North by land bequeathed by me in paragraph 5 of this my will to my daughter Hannah.
5. To my daughter Hannah all that piece of land on the North West side of the said Road and measuring thereby 23 feet and bounded on the South East by land bequeathed by me to my son William in paragraph 4 of this my will.
6. To my daughter Hannah all my land and dwelling house in which I now live on the North West of the said road and which is not bequeathed in paragraph 4 and 5, to her use as long as she remains unmarried and upon her marriage or decease to be shared equally between all my children.
7. To my son John all my Dwelling house and land on the north side of Pope(?) Street.
8. To my daughter Hannah all the land near Stevens(?) Street leased to William Flynn and also all the land adjoining the same.
9. It is my will that whatever sum of money may be received from the (?)ish Society by reason of my membership thereof shall be applied in the purchase and setting up a headstone similar to that created to the memory of my wife and it is further my will that my children shall contribute equally from the bequests to them towards the maintaining the said headstone and our grave in good condition
10. It is further my will that in case of either of my children being desirous of selling the property bequeathed to him or her he or she shall dispose of it to one or more of my other children he she or they being willing to purchase at a valuation to be made by three arbitrators to be chosen one by the vendor one by the vendee or vendees and a third by the other two arbitrators or by any two in case the three should not agree.
I appoint my son John executor of this my last will and testament.
