Will of William Carbery

In re: WILLIAM CARBERY. DECEASED

This is the last will and Testament of me William Carbery of Saint John’s Laborer I appoint my wife Catherine Carbery and Mr John P Scott of St. John’s Saddler to be my Executrix and Executor and direct that all my just debts and funeral and testamentary expenses shall be paid after my decease

1st I give devise and bequeath unto my wife Catherine that land and house known as No 4 Fleming Street and the land to the East of it adjoining Harris’.

2nd To my youngest son Edward I give the land and house known as No 6. Fleming Street, together with a small piece of land to the west fronting on Fleming Street and also the small stable.

3rd I give all my household furniture to my wife for the use of herself and my son Edward during her life after her death to go to my said son Edward

4th I give my silver watch to my brother Edward and if he should predecease me  I desire it should go to his son Michael

5th I give my gold watch to my son Edward

6th I leave the residue of my Estate (if any) to my Executors to be by them realized and divided equally between my wife and my son Edward

In witness whereof I the said William Carbery have to this my last will and testament set my name this 17th day of September A.D. 1903 - William Carbery - Signed by the Testator and acknowledged by him to be his last will and Testament in the presence of us, present at the same time, who at his request in his presence and in the presence of each other have subscribed our names as witnesses John P Scott   P J Summers

As a Codicil to my will dated this 2nd of April   I desire to leave to my niece Catherine Galway the yard on the Eastern end of the House and land which I bequeathed to my wife in above will. The yard is bounded East by House now occupied by Mrs Ebbs, North by Drovers land, west by the House and south by Fleming street - William Carbery - Dated at St. John’s this 2nd day of April A.D. 1912   P. As a second codicil to my will I desire to revoke the codicil made the 2nd of April last concerning the land on the eastern side of House. I leave one feather bed to and one bedroom table to my son Edward - William Carbery - witness the 6th day of April A.D. 1912 Gower Rabbitts   P. J. Summers
