In re WALTER IRWIN. DECEASED. In the name of God Amen. I Walter Irwin of St. John’s in the Island of Newfoundland Farmer do hereby publish and declare this to be my last will and testament, and revoking all other wills, codicils and testamentary devises whatever I give and bequeath all my estate property and effects both real and personal unto my beloved wife Mary save and except the farm with the erections thereon at Upper Long Pond which I give and bequeath to my son William I direct that my wife shall without unnecessary delay sell or let on lease the land adjoining Murray’s property on Circular Road and from the proceeds after paying funeral and other expenses and deducting five pounds cy to be appropriated for Masses for the repose of my soul to pay off the balance of mortgage (fifty pounds) now on the property bequeathed to my son WilliamI also direct that after my wife’s death my property be allotted as follows namely to my son William Forty feet of the kitchen garden frontage on Circular Road & running to the rear to the extent of said garden, said frontage to be measured off from the western end of said garden running eastwards. To my daughter Fanny twenty feet frontage on Circular Road to be measured off from western end of kitchen garden and running to the rear in line with said kitchen garden and to my daughter Ellen twenty feet frontage to the westward of, and adjoining her sister Fanny’s and funning to the rear in line with the kitchen garden aforesaid and to my daughter Catherine twenty feet frontage to the westward of and adjoining her sister Ellen and running to the rear as her sisters aforesaid and to my son Walter the remainder of the property with all the erections thereon to have and enjoy the same in his own right after the death of his mother as aforesaid I also direct that my wife when ever she think proper shall remit to my son John now in New Brunswick the sum of one hundred dollars I do appoint John Maher of St. John’s Land Surveyor and John Dwyer Jr of the same place Farmer as my executors to this my last will and testament Signed published and declared at Georges Town in the town of St. John’s aforesaid this third day of February one thousand eight hundred and seventy seven Walter Irwin. I Walter Irwin the within testator further direct that after my wife’s death as aforesaid my daughter Mary shall have allotted to her twenty feet frontage on the Circular Road taking precedence of her sisters in having the first lot assigned her next the kitchen garden the lot running to the rear in line with her sisters portions and further that the cottage formerly grand father’s be disposed of or bequeathed to whosoever my wife may think fit and proper.
