Will of Thomas Rose

In re: THOMAS ROSE. DECEASED.

This is the last will and testament of me Thomas Rose at present of Saint John’s in the Island of Newfoundland Pensioner made this twelfth day of June A.D. 1908.

I appoint Eli Mercer of Saint John’s grocer executor of this my last will hereby revoking all former wills by me at any time made I give devise and bequeath unto my wife Emma Rose all the property of every description whatsoever of which I shall die possessed including such amounts as may be paid my executor under two policies of insurance one in the Canada Life on the life of W.W. Rose and the other No. 3503 in the Grand Orange Lodge of British America Benefit Fund for her sole use and benefit with the exception of my watch which I leave to my grandson Thomas Rose To hold the said properties and monies to my said wife for ever.

It is my desire that at the death of my said wife should any property remain in her hands she shall bequeath the same to my children to be equally divided between them. In testimony whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name at Saint John’s aforesaid the day and year first above written. Signed by the said testator as and for his last will and testament by affixing his mark in the presence of us who in his presence at his request & in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses the same having been first read over explained to the said testator Thomas X Rose.
