Thomas Bulger deceased. This is the last will and testament of me Thomas Bulger of Saint John’s Newfoundland House Carpenter, being of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding. First and principally of all I give and recommend my soul into the hands of Almighty God that gave it, and my body to be decently interred. I give devise and bequeath unto my beloved daughter Frances McNamara, widow of the late Michael McNamara Cooper with whom I have been of late years and at present residing all that and those messuages tenements land and premises with the appurtenances thereunto belonging situate and being on the eastern side of Cochrane Street and southern side of Gower Street in the town of Saint John’s aforesaid and held by me from John Ellis for a term of thirty one years under a lease bearing date the sixth day of April A.D. eighteen hundred and forty six at the yearly rent of (six) say twelve pounds currency to have and to hold all and singular the above described messuages tenements land and premises and the rents issues and profits thereof unto my aforesaid daughter Frances McNamara to and for her own absolute use benefit and disposal. In witness whereof I have to this my last will and testament set my hand and seal at Saint John’s aforesaid the twenty ninth day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty four. Thomas his X mark Bulger (LS) Signed sealed and delivered by the said testator for and as his last will and testament being first read over and explained in presence of us. Codicil made before signing the above. That in case my son Martin Bulger shall at any time hereafter return to saint John’s I give and bequeath one half the above described premises to him his claim thereon to commence only from the date of his arrival at the port of Saint John’s, and I desire and request this codicil to be a part of my last will and testament 29th July 1854 this codicil being first read over and explained to the testator, Thomas his X mark Bulger. Witness to the will and codicil both being signed at the same time in presence of us, Hy. Devereux, Not. Pub. John Walsh. John his X mark Maher.
