Will of Sarah Appleyard

In re SARAH DEBORAH APPLEYARD. DECEASED.

This is the last will and testament of me Sarah Deborah Appleyard of Number 23 Westbourne Place Eaton Square in the County of Middlesex Widow made this sixteenth day of October one thousand eight hundred and seventy four I direct that my executors hereinafter named shall out of the first monies belonging to my estate which shall come to their hands pay my funeral and testamentary expenses and debts and shall expend as soon as may be after my death the sum of two hundred pounds in the purchase of an annuity for my servant Frances Arnold for her life in case she shall be living in my service at my decease

I give and devise all and singular my messuages tenements hereditaments and real estate and also all and every my parts and shares part and share of and in any messuages tenements hereditaments and real estate situate and being in the Island of Newfoundland of or to which I shall at the time of my decease be seized possessed or entitled or over which I have or may have any disposing power with their and every of their rights members and appurtenances unto and to the use of my cousin Jane Borland of 117 Remington Park Road in the County of Surrey Widow her heirs and assigns for ever I give and bequeath the following legacies namely

To Elizabeth Daman of Romsey Hampshire the sum of fifty pounds for her sole separate and absolute use and benefit and her receipt whether covert or sole to be an effectual discharge for the same To Selina Frances Mary Robinson of St. John*s Newfoundland the sum of nineteen pounds To her brother Bryan Christopher Robinson the sum of nineteen pounds To George Albert Bromet of Tadcaster in the County of York the sum of fifty pounds and to each of my executors who shall prove my will the sum of fifty pounds and I direct that all the legacies hereinbefore by me given shall be paid if possible within six calendar months next after my decease and that the legacy duties payable upon the said legacies and upon the said sum of two hundred pounds to be expended in the purchase of the said annuity shall be paid out of my residuary personal estate

I bequeath my leasehold messuage in Westbourne Place and all my personal estate whatsoever or wheresoever of or to which I shall at my death be possessed or entitled or over which I shall at my death have a general power of appointment unto George Thomas Brooking of 33 Sussex Gardens Hyde Park gentleman and John Addinell Bromet of Tadcaster in the County of York Gentleman their executors and administrators upon trust that they the said George Thomas Brooking and John Addinell Bromet or the survivor of them or the executors or administrators of such survivor shall in such manner and under such stipulations and upon such terms and conditions in all respects as they or he shall in their or his discretion think fit sell collect or otherwise convert into ready money according to the nature of the premises all such parts of the same premises as shall not consist of ready money and may buy in or rescind or vary any contract for sale or of any other description and resell without being answerable for loss and may for the purposes aforesaid or any of them execute and do all such assurances and things as they or he shall think fit and shall with and out of the monies to be produced by such sale collection and conversion and the ready money of which I shall be possessed at my death after payment of my funeral and testamentary expenses and debts and providing for the said annuity to my servant as aforesaid pay the legacies bequeathed by this my will or any codicil hereto and the legacy duties payable thereon and shall then pay the residue of the same monies unto the said Jane Borland for her sole and separate use I revoke all former wills and I appoint the said George Thomas Brooking and John Addinell Bromet executors of this my will In witness whereof I the said Sarah Deborah Appleyard have to his my last will and testament set my hand the day and year first herein written-

Sarah Deborah Appleyard- Signed and acknowledged by the said Sarah Deborah Appleyard as her last will and testament in the presence of us present at the same time and who in her presence at her request and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses the word "upon" having first been interlined in the last line of the first page hereof-
