In re RICHARD MAINWARING. DECEASED. In the name of God Amen. I Richard Mainwaring of St. John's in the Central District of Newfoundland a Shoemaker and Shopkeeper being of sound mind memory and understanding do make and ordain the following as and for my last will and testament. After the payment of all my just debts funeral and testamentary expenses I will desire and bequeath my monies goods chattels and effects in manner following that is to sayFirst I give devise and bequeath to my son James Mainwaring the sum of one hundred pounds currency also all my right title and interest in & to that land and the dwelling house thereon situate in Water Street East and at present in the occupancy of Mrs. Henry Coclough and immediately to the eastward of the house now held and occupied by me also the bed and bedding now in use by the said James Mainwaring. Second I give devise and bequeath to my daughters Ann Mainwaring and Catherine Mainwaring all my right title and interest in and to that land and dwelling house situate Water Street East in Saint John's aforesaid now held and occupied by me under lease from one Ryan together with all the household furniture now in said house. Third I give devise and bequeath all the rest residue and remainder of my monies goods chattels and effects to my said daughters Ann Mainwaring & Catherine Mainwaring and in the event of any or either of my said daughters dying the share and interest of such one so dying shall go to my next surviving daughter Fourth I nominate constitute and appoint my friend Thomas Byrne of Cochrane Street in Saint John's aforesaid executor to my last will Lastly I hereby revoke and declare null and void all wills by me heretofore made. Witness my hand at Saint John's aforesaid the twenty tenth day of October Anno Domini one thousand eight hundred and seventy four. Richard Mainwaring.
