In re PATRICK PATTEN. DECEASED. In the name of God Amen. I Patrick Patten of the Parish of Ballylanin in the County of Waterford Ireland, but late of St. John’s in the Island of Newfoundland Fisherman, being of sound and disposing mind and memory do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following, that is to say, first I will that all my debts and funeral charges be paid and discharged by my executors hereinafter named, Philip Browne, Thomas Flahavan. Also I give and bequeath unto my cousin Catherine Hellahan that house now occupied by Patrick Fling situated in Duckworth Street also one half of the yearly rent of that house now occupied by Mr. Joseph Devine. Also I give and bequeath unto my cousin Elenor Mooney now Mrs. Sweeney that house now occupied at present by Thomas Halley also one half of the yearly rent of that beforementioned house occupied by Mr. Devine both in Duckworth St. I also bequeath unto my cousin Patrick Walsh of the Parish of Kill in the County of Waterford Ireland, at the expiration of the lease of that stone house now occupied by Michael Darcy the sum of ten pounds sterling per year and every year and the remainder to be distributed between Catherine Hallahan and Mrs. Sweeney equally. I also bequeath unto the Right Revd. Doctor Fleming or his successor the sum of five pounds for and during the term of ten years successively from this date, to have a High mass and office offered for the repose of the soul of Patrick Pattern. I also bequeath unto the aforesaid Catherine Fallahan my bed and bedding Also I bequeath unto the son of Mrs. Sweeney called Patt the watch now in my possession be it further understood that the five pounds to be paid to the Bishop is to be taken every year our of the rent roll of Catherine Hallahan and Mrs. Sweeney share equally And be it further understood that the said Catherine Hallahan and Mrs. Sweeney cannot by this will eighther sell or mortgage any of the aforesaid property nor their husbands have any controle whatsoever over it and in case of their demise it shall become the property of their nearest relations be it further understood that my executors do see that a headstone with all its expences be provided and erected on my common place of burial at the discretion of my executors.In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this forth of December in the year of our Lord 1832 eighteen hundred & thirty two.
