In re PATRICK FURLONG: DECEASED. In the name of God Amen I Patrick Furlong of Saint John’s in the Island of Newfoundland Shopkeeper being mindful of my mortality and of sound mind and understanding do this twenty eigth day of December Anno Domini one thousand eight hundred and sixty nine make and publish this my last will and testament in manner followingFirst I desire to be deceantly buried without any funeral pomp and with as little expense as may be and as to my worldly property I bequeath as follows:- I give and bequeath to my eldest son James Furlong one shilling sterling Also I give and bequeath to my daughter Bridget Furlong and to my youngest son John Thomas Furlong all my right title and interest in and to those certain leasehold premises consisting of two dwelling houses situate on the north side of Water Street in the town of Saint John’s aforesaid namely the one occupied by me and the other at present in the occupancy of George Langmead To have and to hold to my said daughter and to my said son John Thomas Furlong for and during the unexpired term yet to come in the said premises and that the rents issues and profits arising and accruing therefrom shall be divided between them share and share alike. Also I give and bequeath to my said daughter Bridget Furlong and to my said son John Thomas Furlong all sum or sums of money I may die possessed of and all my household furniture, goods, stock in trade to be divided between the said Bridget Furlong and John Thomas Furlong share and share alike. I also desire and request that out of my said estate there shall be paid a sum of money for two Masses, one for the repose of my soul and the other for my late wife, and all the rest and residue of my estate whatsoever, and not herein given and disposed of after payment of just debts legacy and funeral expenses I give and bequeath to my said daughter Bridget Furlong and to my said son John Thomas Furlong share and share alike. Also it is my desire and request that in the event of my said daughter Bridget being married her husband shall have no control or management whatever to the property herein bequeathed to her, and that the same shall not be liable for his debts. And I do nominate and appoint my said son John Thomas Furlong sole executor to this my last will and testament And lastly I do hereby revoke all former wills by me at any time heretofore made declaring this to be my last will and testament In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal at Saint John’s aforesaid the day and year first above written.
