TRANSCRIBER'S NOTES :

Nicholas James Collier was an older brother of my maternal great grandfather Samuel George Carnell Collier. They were both sons of Charles Frederick
Collier and Sarah Ann Carnell.

Nicholas refers to his wife Ellen Louise. She was Ellen Louisa Pack, daughter of William and Eliza Pack. Eric Harold Collier, son of Nicholas and
Ellen, survived the sinking of the Florizel in 1918. He was third engineer.

In re

NICHOLAS J. COLLIER deceased This is the last will and testament of me Nicholas James Collier of St. John’s in the Island of Newfoundland Wheelwright and I hereby revoke all former wills and testamentary dispositions made by me and declare this to be my last will and testament. I give devise and bequeath to my wife Ellen Louise Collier all my property of every nature and kind whatsoever of which I may die possessed (save and except the bequest to my son Eric hereinafter named) to hold the same for and during her natural life or until her re-marriage. Upon the death or re- marriage of my said wife I desire that the said property shall revert to my said son Eric but in the event of my said son Eric predeceasing my said wife I desire that upon the death or remarriage of my said wife the property hereinbefore men-tioned shall be sold and the proceeds of such sale be paid to the Managers of the Church of England Orphanage for its ‘up-keep’ except the sum of Two hundred dollars which I direct shall be paid out of the said proceeds and paid over to the Tasker Educational Fund (Masonic) Provided always and I direct if my son Eric shall leave him surviving a wife and a child or children in which case it is my  will and desire that the said property shall upon the death or remarriage of my said wife Ellen Louise go to the wife of my said son Eric for and during her natural life and after her death to the child or children of my said son- I give devise and bequeath to my son the sum of six hundred dollars out of the proceeds of my Life Assurance policy and I appoint my said wife Ellen Louise as executrix and my son Eric as executor of this my last will and testament- Dated at St. John’s this 31st. day of August A.
