Will of Michael Corrigan

In re: MICHAEL CORRIGAN. DECEASED

In the name of God Amen I Michael Corrigan of Trepassey do vow and declare this to be my last will and testament I will and bequeath one third of my part of stamps meadow to be equally divided between Patrick Corrigan son of Samuel Corrigan. Annie Story daughter of Samuel Corrigan, and Samuel Molloy son of Norah Molloy I also will and bequeath one third or my part of Houses and land handed down to me by my Father and bought from Patrick Leary Bounded on the North by Follards land of old on the south by Walshes land and on the west by the sault water to be equally divided between Mary Leary Catherine Sutton and Ellen Kennedy three daughters of Samuel Corrigan. I also will and bequeath one fourth or my part of the fishing room and land on the Lower Coast (bounded on the East by Jacksons old property and on west by Jacksons old property, on the south by the main road and on the north by the Salt water) and one fourth of the meadow on the upper Coast known as Kennedys or Mangings meadow to my sister Catherine Kennedys children to be divided by them as they wish.

  • I also will and bequeath for my funeral expence and head stone twenty pounds £20.
  • I also will and bequeath to my Brother Samuels daughter Mary Leary two hundred pounds £200.
  • I also will and bequeath to my brother Samuel’s daughter Catherine Sutton two hundred pounds £200.
  • I also will and bequeath to my Brother Samuels daughter Ellen Kennedy two hundred £200.
  • I also will and bequeath to my brother Samuels daughter Annie Story forty pounds £40.
  • I also will and bequeath to my Brother Samuels son Patrick Corrigan Forty pounds £40.

I hereby appoint my sisters son Matthew Kennedy to be my executor Michael Corrigan Signed by the said Michael Corrigan in our presence and by us in his presence and in the presence of each other this twelft day of May in the year of our Lord nineteen hundred and four George G. Whereas I Michael Corrigan of Trepassey have made my last will and Testament on the attached sheet in writing bearing date of May the twelft in the year of our Lord nineteen hundred and four and have herein willed the most of my money and property. Now I do by this writing which I hereby declare to be a Codicil to my said will to be taken as a part thereof.

  • I will and bequeath to my nephew Thomas Kennedy Twelve Pounds ten shillings £12. s 10.
  • I give and bequeath to my nephew Samuel Kennedy Twelve pounds ten shillings £12. s10.
  • I give and bequeath to my nephew Patrick Kennedy Twelve Pounds ten Shillings £12. s10.
  • I give and bequeath to my nephew Cornelius Kennedy Twelve Pounds ten shillings £12. 10s
  • I will and bequeath to my nephew Matthew Kennedy Twelve Pounds ten shillings £12. 10s
  • I give and bequeath to my nephew Edward Kennedy Twelve pounds ten Shillings £12. 10s.

  • I will and bequeath to Mary Bridget F. Kennedy Daughter of Matthew Kennedy Three Pounds £3.
  • I will and bequeath to the nuns of Trepassey Convent two Pounds ten shillings £2. 10s.
  • I will and bequeath for masses for the repose of the souls of my Relatives as follows
    For my Parents Ten Pounds £10.
    For my brother Samuel Corrigan one Pound £1.
    For my Brother Joseph Corrigan one pound £1.
    For my sister in law Mary Samuel Corrigan one pound £1.
    For my sister in law Mary Joseph Corrigan one pound £1.
    For my stepsister Rosana Hollaran one pound £1.
    For my step sister Sarah Pennell one pound £1.
    For my sister Catherine Kennedy one pound £1.
    For my nephew William Kennedy one pound £1.
    For my niece Norah Mulloy one pound £1.
    For James Corrigan son of Samuel Corrigan one pound £1.
    For my stepbrother Patrick Mulloy one pound £1.
  • For my Brother Joseph’s children as follows
    For Samuel Corrigan five shillings,
    for Matthew Corrigan five shillings,
    for Joseph Corrigan five shillings,
    Michael Corrigan five shillings,
    and Sarah Corrigan five shillings.


    • I will and direct that if their is any money wanting to make up the amount left to each person on this (the codicil to my will) that it will be taken off of the money willed on the first sheet of my will (Dated the twelft day of May nineteen hundred and four) at equal percentage from each person (except the amount left for Funeral expences which will remain as it is) I will and Direct that if there is any money over and above what is willed arising from Interest or otherwise, I will and bequeath it to my nephew Matthew Kennedy or his nearest of kin.

      I will and Bequeath to Ellen Kennedy wife of Matthew Kennedy my largest Feather Bed I give and bequeath to Samuel Kennedy son of my niece Ellen Kennedy my smallest Feather Bed. I will and Bequeath the remainder of my Personal goods and chattles of what kind soever to my two nephews Patrick Kennedy, and Edward Kennedy.
