In re: MARY ELIZABETH SIMPSON. DECEASED.
I Mary Elizabeth Simpson wife and administratrix of the late Thomas Melacum Simpson of St. John’s in the Island of Newfoundland, being of sound mind and memory, and mindful of the uncertainty of life, do make, publish and declare this to be my last will and testament in manor following :- That is to say :-
First. I direct my executors herinafter named to pay all my just debts, and funeral expenses
Second :- I hereby nominate, constitute, and appoint William White and Harry E. Greaves, Executors of this my will.
Third :- I give devise and bequeath all my estate both real and personal, of whatsoever name or nature and wheresoever situated, which I may own or be entitled to at the time of my death, to be divided as follows :- To the parties mentioned or their heirs unless otherwise mentioned. Agnes Patterson Smith wife of F.G. Smith Chicago $2000.00. May Smith Daughter of F.G. Smith Chicago $655.00 Mrs. Elizabeth Deas widow of the late Wm. Deas and sister of the late T.M. Simpson North Thields (?) England $1000.00 James Simpson Brother of the late T.M. Simpson Heston (?) England $500.00 Mrs. Mary Sutherland wife of late Wm. Sutherland sister of late T.M. Simpson if she predeceases me to be paid to her daughter Edith South Thields(?) Engl’d $500.00 Mrs. Kate Bell wife of George Bell sister of late T.M. Simpson Sascatchewan Canada $500.00 William Simpson Brother of late T.M. Simpson Wanshead(?) Gower St. womens missionary Society at Gower St. Church St. John’s Nf. $200.00 Methodist Orphanage of St. John’s Nf. 200.00 Gower St. Church "Poor Fund" St. John’s Nf. 100.00 Chas Simpson son of Wm. Simpson Wanshed (?) Park Essex Engl’d 100.00 Martha Whitten St. John’s Nf. 100.00 Mrs. Chesley Woods wife of Chesley Woods St. John’s Nf. 200.00 Cemetery Plot for repairs etc Geul(?) Protestant cemetery 100.00 Agnes P Smith Chicago My Fur Coat if she predecease me same to be given to May Smith. To Trustees Gower St. Church my interest in my Pew All my estate both real and personal to be realized {including furniture and personal effects} by my executors and all of the foregoing amounts to be paid in cash the balance if any to be divided as follows :-
1. Gower St. Church parsonage aid Society
2 Robert Simpson
3 James Simpson Jr.
4 Kate Simpson 3 and 4 children of James Simpson Heston(?) Engl’d.
If Arthur Greaves survives me then and only then, the four sons of Agnes P Smith will share equally as individuals in the balance of my estate with numbers 1. 2. 3. 4. In witness whereof I, the said testatrix Mary Elizabeth Simpson have to this my last will and testament subscribed my name and affixed my seal, at the City of St. John’s This fifth day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and sixteen Mary E.
