Will of Mary Dunn

In re: MARY DUNN. DECEASED.

In the Name of God Amen I, Mary Dunn of St. John's, widow, do make publish and declare this as and for my last will and testament

1. I hereby appoint and nominate the Revd. James Greene Roman Catholic Priest the Executor of this my will

2. I hereby direct my said Executor as soon as possible after my death to pay all my just debts funeral and testamentary expenses.

3. Out of the money on deposit to my credit in the Newfoundland Savings Bank I give devise and bequeath the following legacies

  • (a) I give devise and bequeath to my niece Madeline White at present of Ferryland the sum of two hundred dollars
  • (b) I give devise and bequeath to the Most Reverend E.P. Roche Archbishop of St. John's the sum of one hundred dollars for Masses for the repose of my soul
  • (c) I give devise and bequeath to my Executor the sum of two hundred dollars to be used in the purchase and erection of a suitable monument and rails around my grave
  • (D) I give devise and bequeath to the Industrial School at Mount Cashel the sum of four hundred dollars.
  • (E) I give devise and bequeath to the Roman Catholic Episcopal Corporation of St. John's the sum of three hundred dollars to be used in connection with the erection of the new Church in the Parish to be opened in St. John's or such other purpose in connection with the said church as His Grace the Archbishop may deem desirable. It is my wish and desire that His Grace the Archbishop shall have a suitable memorial to my memory erected in the said church and will cause to be celebrate annually a Requiem High Mass for the repose of the souls of my father and mother. Clement and Mary Carew and my sister Margaret Wadden and her husband John Wadden
  • (F) I give devise and bequeath to St. Joseph's Parish St. John's the sum of one hundred dollars

    to the Roman Catholic Episcopal Corporation for the erection of the New Presentation Convent Schools the sum of one hundred dollars.

    To the fund for the education of Ecclesiastical students the sum of one hundred dollars and

    to the fund for the maintenance of aged Priests the sum of fifty dollars.
  • (G) To the Executor of this my will the Revd. Doctor Greene I give devise and bequeath the sum of one hundred dollars.
(4) The rest residue and remainder of the money to my credit in the Newfoundland Savings Bank I give devise and bequeath to my niece Kate Fitzgerald of Boston Massachusetts in the United States of America. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand at St. John's this 22nd day of September A.D. 1916. Mary Dunne.
