Will of Mary Ann Ashbourne

In re: MARY ANN ASHBOURNE. DECEASED.

This is the last will and testament of me Mary Ann Ashbourne of St. John’s in the Island of Newfoundland Widow.
FIRST: I direct that my Executor hereinafter named will first pay my just debts funeral and testamentary expenses.
SECONDLY:     I devise and bequeath unto my adopted daughter Fanny Churchill wife of John Churchill for the term of her natural life all my property of every description whatsoever and wheresoever situate.
THIRDLY:     I devise and bequeath unto Mary Josephine Ashbourne Churchill daughter of my adopted daughter Fanny Churchill for the term of her natural life all the property comprised in the second bequest herein but subject to the life interest of the said Fanny Churchill therein.
FOURTHLY:     I devise and bequeath absolutely unto the Roman Catholic Episcopal Corporation of St. John’s all the property comprised in the second bequest herein but subject to the life interest of the said Fanny Churchill and Mary Josephine Ashbourne Churchill therein.
FIFTHLY:     I hereby appoint Fanny Churchill executrix of this my last will and testament.
SIXTHLY:     I hereby revoke all testamentary dispositions heretofore made by me.

In witness whereof I have hereunto my hand subscribed at St. John’s aforesaid this 10th day of August A.D. 1908.     MARY ANN her X mark ASHBOURNE

Signed by the said Testatrix as and for her last will and testament in the presence of us who in her presence at her request and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses the word "Fifthly" on line 25 having been first inserted the same having been first read over and explained.
