Will of Martin Clooney

In re: MARTIN CLOONEY. DECEASED

This is the last will and Testament of me Martin Clooney of St. John's Farmer. I give devise and bequeath to my beloved sons Gregory and William all my farm land surrounding my house in which I live together with all my cows horses poultry etc and all farm utensils carts carriages catamaran Hay and oats except one of the horses and one long car with harness complete which I give and bequeath to my son Thomas to have and to hold for ever and to have free use of one of Stables to Shelter his horse in for as long as he remains sober and industrious but should he Thomas become reckless in getting drunk and giving annoyance he shall have to leave the premises when told to do so by his brother Gregory and him alone will only have power to remove him from the premises I do further give to my son Thomas half my farm land situate on the White Hills road adjoining Geo Cooks property in all on or about three and a half acres I give and bequeath to my son John a piece of land which is also situate on the White Hills road as a building lot this land adjoins the property of "Connors" Johns share to be when measured Thirty feet frontage by seventy feet rearage. If this plot of land don't suit John his brother Gregory must give him a similar building site below the house I now live in

All other lands belonging to me is to be equally divided between my sons Gregory and William except the land on which my house is built on This piece as well as the house I will equally divide between my beloved daughter Martha Heale wife of Samuel Heale farmer and my beloved daughter Johanna

And I also give and bequeath to my beloved daughter Johanna. And I also give and bequeath to my beloved daughter Johanna my Goods and household furniture which I own except the beds and bed clothing now used by her Brothers Thomas Gregory and William. To strictly and lawfully conform to my wishes of this my last will and Testament it will be compulsory for my sons Gregory and William to deposit after my death each year Five dollars cash in the Government Savings Bank and continue to do so untill my beloved grand daughter Mary Heale daughter of Samuel and Martha Heale of St. John's attains the age of Twenty one years the full deposited to be handed to her by my executor hereinafter named and should my grand - daughter Mary Heale die before she reaches the age of Twenty one years. They my sons Gregory and William will continue to deposit in said Bank the sum of Five dollars each every year untill my beloved Grandson Harold Heale son of Samuel Heale and Martha Heale of St. John's attains the age of Twenty one years then the whole sum deposited with interest becomes the property of the said Harold Heale

I also ask my sons Gregory and William to be kind to my beloved nephew Martin Clooney son of my late Brother John Clooney and to never see him hungry or cold while they both have a shelter to give him.

I appoint my son Gregory Clooney of St. John's executor of this my will dated at St. John's February 13th day A.D. 1911 and should there be any monies left after my lawfull Bills are paid by my Executor I hereby devise and bequeath all remaining money to my beloved daughter Johanna Clooney as her personal property Martin his x mark Clooney Signed by the said Testator in presence of John P Grace Collector St John's Municipal Council witness John Eagan
