Will of Laurence Fitzpatrick from Newfoundland will books volume 4 pages 259-260 probate year 1883.

            Laurence Fitzpatrick deceased.

In the name of God Amen     I Laurence Fitzpatrick of Topsail Conception Bay, Newfoundland, Farmer being very sick and weak but of perfect mind and memory and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die, do make and ordain this my last will and testament, that is to say principally and first of all, I give and recommend my soul into the hand of Almighty God that gave it and my body I commend to the earth to be buried in decent Christian burial according to the rites of the Roman Catholic Church And as touching such worldly estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me in this life, I give devise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form:

First, I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Elizabeth and her children all that property bounded by Fowler’s woodpath up to where the new line meets it then down by the new line to the Main Road then by the Main Road back to Fowler’s woodpath, with dwelling house, stable and all thereon, my said wife to enjoy this property during her life & then her children to have it, but if she marries again the property must never be sold or taken from the children she had by me.

Secondly, I give and bequeath to my sons Thomas, John and Patrick by my first wife all that land on the east side of Fowler’s Woodpath bounded on the north by Henry Fowler, on the east by Rev. C. Palmiret and on the south by James Fowler, this land to be equally divided in three parts between my said three sons, Thomas, John and Patrick Fitzpatrick.

Thirdly, my horse, wagon and sleigh and all the gear belonging to it is to remain on the property for the joint use of my sons, and wife while they shall stand.     In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal this 27th day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty-two-     Lawrence his X mark Fitzpatrick (LS)     Signed, sealed, published, pronounced and declared by the said Lawrence Fitzpatrick as his last will and testament in the presence of us who in his presence and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses, William Swansborough, Thomas Fowler.
