Will of John Walsh

In re: JOHN WALSH. DECEASED.

This is the last will and testament of me John Walsh, of the Portugal Cove Road in the electoral district of St. John’s East in the Island of Newfoundland, Farmer. I revoke all former wills by me at any time made, and I appoint my wife Anastatia to be the executrix of this my will. I give and bequeath all the property of which I may die possessed, including the farm on which I at present reside and the farm stock and implements thereon, my household furniture and effects, my farm near the water reservoir on the Portugal Cove Road, and any cash on deposit in the Savings Bank or in my house, to my said wife for her own use during her lifetime, and upon her death all the said property to pass to my daughter Anastatia M. McCarthy for her own use absolutely.

In witness whereof I have hereunto subscribed my hand at St. John’s aforesaid this fifth day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and sixteen John HIS X MARK Walsh Signed published and declared by the testator as and for his last will and testament in presence of us, both being present at the same time, who at his request and in his presence hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses attesting the due execution hereof, the same having been first read over to and explained to the testator, who appeared perfectly to understand the same, and who signed the same by making his mark thereto in our presence John Dooley W. J. Higgins.

(Listed in the margin next to this will the following) Fiat Apr 25/16 C.J. Probate Apr 25/16 granted to Anastatia Walsh Estate sworn at $3333.00
