Will of John Power

In re JOHN POWER. DECEASED.

In the name of God Amen I John Power of Saint John’s in the Island of Newfoundland Cooper do make publish and declare this to be my last will and testament hereby annulling all former wills or testaments by me heretofore made or cause to be made.

First I desire that all my just debts be paid

Second- I give and bequeath the sum of twenty dollars for Masses for the repose of my soul-

Third- I give devise and bequeath all my leasehold property situate on the North side of Pokeham Path of every description (except as is hereinafter mentioned) unto my wife Jane and my children James, George, Robert, Margaret Mary, and Jane Mary for their and each of their support and maintenance and in case my said wife should marry then and in such case I give and bequeath the house I now live for her own use during the unexpired term of my lease therein.

Fourth I give devise and bequeath unto my three sons James, George and Robert the piece of ground situate on the south side of Pokeham Path share and share alike.

Fifth I give and bequeath unto my said wife and children all money and securities for money I may die possessed of for their and each of their support and maintenance

Sixth I give and bequeath all my stock in trade and household furniture unto my said wife (so long as she remains unmarried) and children aforesaid-

Seventh My executors hereinafter named to use their own discretion in carrying on the Cooperage business now owned by me or in making any alteration therein-

Eighth I appoint Mr. Philip Hally and Mr. Michael Ellard executors of this my last will and testament- In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this eleventh day of November A.D. 1876
