John Pearce deceased

this is the last will and testament of me, John Pearce, at present of Petty Harbor, in the Island of Newfoundland, fisherman, made this nineteenth day of May, anno Domini, nineteen hundred and three. I give devise and bequeath the house in which I now reside at Petty Harbor, and all the furniture in said house and all the land surrounding said house and the kitchen garden unto my son William Pearce to have and to hold the same to him his executors, administrators and assigns for ever

I give, devise and bequeath unto my two sons William and Richard, to be divided equally between them all the ground, at Petty Harbor, upon which my fishing room formerly stood; also I give, devise and bequeath to my said son Richard the whale boat; also I give devise and bequeath the herring net and cod net to be equally owned by my said two sons William and Richard to have and to hold the said fishing room, whale boat and nets to my said sons for ever. Out of whatever money shall come into the hands of my executor hereinafter mentioned I direct that he shall pay over the following sum to the following parties: - to my wife, Lucy Anne Pearce $300, to my son Richard $400, to Mary Hearne north side of Petty Harbor $200; to Ellie McCabe, Hartford, Connecticut $150; to William $300; the balance on the hands of my executor to be divided between my two sons William and Richard, any(?) my wife.

The several bequests to my said son William are subject to the condition that during the life of my wife he is to give her a home with him and to maintain and support her.

I appoint E.P. Morris executor of this my will.
