In re: JOHN R. MCCOWEN. DECEASED I I give devise and bequeath to my wife Elizabeth Sarah, the sum of one thousand dollars being the amount contained in the policy of Insurance effected on my life on her behalf in the New York Life Insurance Company. 2 I give and bequeath to my eldest son William Thomas the sum of Five hundred dollars, also the Diamond breast pin which was presented to me by His Excellency, Earle Grey, also my Imperial Service Order and the Royal Warrant which accompanied it; also my uniform sword belt, slings, saberdash, and my embroidered saddle cloth 3. I give and bequeath to my second eldest son, John Wallis, the sum of Five hundred dollars; also my presentation Scimitar Sword, also the Silver Star or medal presented to me for services rendered at the fire on the Steam Ship "Aurora"; also my fathers Baltic Silver medal; also the fifteen volumes of the Navy and Army Illustrated. 4 I give and bequeath to my third eldest son, Randal Borough, the sum of Five hundred dollars; also my diamond ring, my Humane Society Medal and my presentation walking stick. 5. I give and bequeath to my fourth eldest son, Gerald Roche, the sum of one thousand five hundred dollars for the purpose of finishing his professional education; also the gold presentation watch and chain and breast pin which were given to me by my Sister Mrs Birmingham and which had been the property of her deceased husband; also my Humane Society minature Medal; also my sword walking stick. 6 I give and bequeath to my sister Mrs. Birmingham the sum of Two hundred and fifty dollars. 7. I give and bequeath to my sister Mrs Borough, the sum of Two hundred and fifty dollars. 8. I give and bequeath the Gold watch which I now daily wear and use to my sister-in-law Mrs. Mary Hannah Skelton, which had been the property of her deceased husband and which had been given to me by her. Should she die before I do then I bequeath that watch and chain to my son Randal Borough. I desire to most gratefully thank my good sister-in-law Mrs. Skelton for all the kindness and pecuniary assistance which I have always received from her. 9 I give and bequeath to my daughter Alice May (after my just debts and the foregoing mentioned legacies have just been paid and given to the persons previously named herein) all the remaining property both real and personal, and the residue of my estate and effects of which I may die possessed. I appoint as my executors to this my will Marmaduke Winter Esq. Merchant and Doctor Herbert Randell.
